Chek
i spoke to a guy who went there a week and a half ago, he said there was 2-3 feet of snow! they had to park at the bottom of the hill (obviously) and then they TRIED to walk up the hill but couldn't because too much snow! (past their knees and no snow-shoes).
it's warmed up a bit since then, but i think it won't be good there till April 1st.
i'm going to try hiking up there next week (if it's not rainning) just to "chek it out"... see how it looks....
we climbed in the Boulders (routes) yesterday and the day before.... not "ideal" conditions (in MY opinion).... too cold and not very "crisp", but definately "climbable". it's only going to get better from here....
"Boulderers" seem to like it COLD.... i think they're nuts! we went back to the car between climbs to re-warm up! even drove to get a coffee between burns! haha
Anybody know when the Parkinglot at Murin will be ok to use again?

re: Murrin Access
I had heard March 9. Was up there on the 8th though and it looked like they were still a ways away from having it cleaned up.

we just went up to Chek today (Thursday March 13th); it took us about 40 min to walk up to the parkinglot (you CAN'T drive up there unless you have a snowmobile), the snow is DEEP!!!!! about up to my waist for part of the way, and DEEPER than my knees for ALL of the way up! we didn't make it past the upper parking-lot because it looked the same or worse to go into the big show area...
the Forgotten Wall had some dry routes (if you go while it sunny) and you could go up with snow shoes...
i think Mid-April will be the EARLIEST that you'll be able to climb there.

there's still snow (last week), but we didn't sink into it like before, it's more compact now and you walk ON it (you still fall in on occasion; i suggest bringing boots for the hike in, and dry shoes/socks for once you get there)5.4 Slayer wrote:Soooooo..... is the snow still there? Can I ditch the snow shoes and just use the mukluks now?
the Circuis, and Big Show were 90% dry. Forgotten looked dry too but we didn't climb there.
