Looking for some inspiration for the summer/fall.

Anyone ever do this route? Seems like its fairly doable as a one day el cap route.

thanks and enjoy the winter...

This is sort of an A$%^#@-ish thing to say, but the West Face isn't really an 'El Cap' route. The same goes for the East Buttress...

Regardless, a few different friends of mine have all done it and say it is pretty swell. Enjoy.

I was going to put something about it not being a real el cap route. But then I thought whatever...

Did the e. butt a while ago - not an el cap route. but quite a bit of good climbing too. West face looks like a good next step.

Looked at the topo last night at the co-op - pretty doable

Anybody recomend a good yos valley guidebook?

The big book is pretty good by Don. There is so much new route activity going on there all the time though. Yet, just the stuff in the book would keep almost anyone busy for a long long long long time. I know last time I talked to him he was working on a new more updated book. But with any guide it always takes forever and is long overdue.

The supertopo book is pretty much a run down on what all the visitors do. Most people I meet own that... so expect to see others on those climbs during the good free season. Don's guide also leaves the beta out so your fun factor is still there.

So maybe try and pick up a used version of the Reid guide and wait till the next one comes out. Though that could be years...
