New Route on Shoot To Kill Wall

Post by Pete L. » Sat Apr 17, 2004 8:57 pm

"Weapon of Moss Destruction" is complete to the first set of anchors.
I think it goes at around 11+ but would like some concensus.
Can't remember how many draws you need but 11 or 12 should do.
It starts up the first two or three bolts of the old 10c route on that wall.(might be called "Shoot to Kill", I don't know?)
It would be a good idea to unclip the draw under the roof after clipping the one above it to reduce rope drag. I'd even use a long draw on the bolt before the roof bolt as well.
Hope you like it.

If the route your talking about moves up and traverses left then that's Campfire Vamp. Love that route.

Not that this has anything to do with this thread but... the nut on the 3rd bolt of return to sender (the crux) is loose. Be careful.

Climbed this route today. Felt it was hard for the grade. This route was a very good climb. much better than the three stars it received.

I finnished the top of "Weapons..."
I know how some of you feel about naming extensions but I'm going to anyways, as it is more than a one bolt extension and because the character and grade are quite different from the first bit.

"Jihad" 12c(ish) with a big reach. (sorry)

Four or Five more bolts.
You can't get to the ground with a 60 but I used a 60 and down climbed the last 15 feet.
Don't forget to tie a knot at the end of the rope!!!

Got on weapons.... I gotta agree with what was said earlier that the route is good quality. Its a 4 star route at least.

It has been suggested that 11c is kinda sandbagged.
