lower apron

Post by timelessbeing » Sun Aug 19, 2012 12:06 am

During my walk back to the apron parking lot on Aug 12th, I spotted someone scrubbing away on the wall South of Rambles. Any rumours what it might be?

Hmmm... Looks like it's about 2 metres right of The Bottom Line. I wonder if that route is getting the same treatment as Rambles, or if that gent is putting another line that close. Most of that slab is so low angled that you could climb just about anywhere and not be harder than 5.9.

I think we should get one of those dept. of highways tractors with the huge roller brush on the front and rig it up like a winch cat to clean those slabs!

I believe that is "Beer-can Al." If you ask him, I'm certain that he'll tell you all about it...

Walked under it again on Sunday afternoon and WOW! He's going full-bore in there. It looks like he's cleaning the crack that starts to the left of Bottom Line, and diagonals up right through it. I can't tell if it continues up past the tree island above.

Saw him there again today. It's Al. He's not sure what it's going to be yet.

His pile of empties at the base is beginning to rival his debris pile. I hope he drags all of those branches off of the connector trail. It looks like the most likely line is a one pitch diagonal crack system crossing the first pitch of Bottom Line.

That's what I thought too K. The first pitch of the Bottom Line is a tiny bit dirty at the moment but still very climbable.

Re: lower apron - next to "Rambles"

Post by natsdad » Fri Jun 16, 2017 10:30 am

Hey Folks:

As I climbed Rambles a couple of days ago, I noticed that the new climb that is just a couple of metres south of it had many bolts, stations and two fixed lines (one red hanging from a large tree, another blue hanging from the final station) hanging on it. It sort of looks ready to go...but I haven't heard anything or seen any postings here or on "free topos" on Marc's website.

Does anyone know anything about the status of this new, lower apron climb?

Thanks,
Steve
