Climbing partner 10-11 Aug, room + costs incl.

Hi folks,

I am in Squamish on 10th and 11th Aug and am seeking a suitable climbing partner.

Itinerary: (or shall I say, wish)

10th afternoon: Arrive in Squamish, do some single-pitches, get a feel for the local rock, and familiarize with my partner.

11th: Early start and do a nice multi-pitch, The Chief or any other.

12th: Some more single-pitches before I head back.

Gear: I can bring a 60m rope (single or half, depending on need), draws, and a small rack.

Experience/goal: I am primarily a sport/alpine climber, but can follow trad with a stronger partner. My grades are low, 5.7-5.9 or thereabouts, but I am a solid belayer, have enjoyed long routes, 20+ pitches in my grade, and have done about a dozen classic alpine/mixed routes in the Alps: http://www.hikr.org/user/Niranjan/.

Since my climbing experience is limited to Europe and India, I need someone local who can climb safely and show me the local ways. I can't really afford a guided climb and probably wouldn't enjoy it so much; have never done it before.

Logistics: I have booked a room with two beds for 10th and 11th at the Mountain Retreat Hotel, feel free to stay with me if you like. I'll cover the costs (stay/food/park fees) if I am with a stronger climber who can lead a nice multi-pitch.

Please reply if you'd like to discuss more or have other suggestions/tips to share. Otherwise, thanks for reading so far :)

Thanks,
TT

That sounds good to me.

I've never climbed in the states or canada so I'd need to get a feel for the rock as well. Saying that, my endurance is pretty good. I'm onsighting up to F6c and the odd F7a in the UK with my trad grades being comfortable at HVS.

I was gonna wild camp/camp but I'd happily take you up on that offer.

I'm taking a 70m single, half a trad rack (dmm wallnuts and 3 cams), and ten draws.

Big multipitches are my thing too, let me know what you think?
