UK climber considering a trip to Squamish Sep 22nd - Oct 3rd
Hi,
I'm planning a holiday for the dates above and Squamish is high on my list of destinations to visit.
I would be coming alone so I was wondering how easy it is to find climbing partners out there?
I'm mostly into bouldering so I could climb on my own but it is always more fun to climb with other people and it would be great to climb with someone who knew the area.
Also is it possible to hire bouldering mats? and do you have any suggestions for good value accomodation?
Very many thanks,
Gwilym

Gwilym,
Welcome to Squamish and Squamishclimbing. September is a fantastic time to climb and visit Squamish. The temps are cooler, although early October can be rainy. It is getting to the end of the climbing season for many visiting climbers so there may not be as many people looking for partners, but I don't think you will have any problem.
You can rent bouldering pads at Climb On is a very good climbing shop in Squamish.
As for accommodation, it depends on what you are looking for. For convenience and climber friendly accommodation you can't beat Smoke Bluffs Lodge. The climbing is across the street. And Toby, the owner is a fellow Brit and all round solid guy.
Post any other questions you have on the forum and maybe some others will chime in.
Good luck and safe travels.
