Wasps...

Post by jerblumel » Wed Aug 14, 2013 9:47 pm

Climbed Angel's Crest a few days ago and noticed a hornet nest under the rocks at the base of the 5.9 pitch off the nice flat rest ledge where you can bail into the gulley to retreat. Not a big one but there. ALso, after rapping the Acrophobe towers and climbing to the notch where the bolt and fixed line are, there is another larger nest under the rock on the middle of the dirt patch at the bottom of the rope. You can swing over to avoid and feel like Arrol Flynn. Be forewarned.

With all these wasp sightings, methinks it deserves a separate thread title or category for the climbing season.......Climbed this route recently as well (Monday) and saw a few of these buggers at the sites Jer mentioned, but it was too early in the AM for any excitement
