Retro Scrub - The Ghost

Post by Squamishmonkey » Mon Oct 08, 2012 9:06 pm

I recently gave "The Ghost" at Pet Wall a scrub as it had grown a thick black cloak! I also upgraded the anchors with chains. It is one of the best single pitch gear lines in Squamish...please enjoy.

How would The Ghost compare to The Oracle, at the Quercus?

Hi Brendan,
The Ghost is harder than the Oracle. The Oracle has two cruxes, one low down so your still fresh and one mid height with a rest before. The Ghost has three cruxes with one right at the end. Both are great lines but Oracle is an easier on-sight.
Bunny Foo Foo (The direct version, from the same start as DOA and The Ghost going left is also fantastic) is easier than the Ghost and the crux is bolt protected so not a pure trad line but climbs great...DOA, The Ghost and Bunny Foo Foo make for a great afternoon of climbing.

Hey Jesse,

You may want to reconsider attempting the Ghost tomorrow. The first bolt is a solid four meter's off the ground, a superfluous bolt was added to the crux next to bomber gear, and scores of trees were cut down in order to make Pet Wall a modern rock climbing area (very upsetting considering pet wall was first climbed in 1970 with all trees left in place). More importantly, judging by the fact that you backed off a 5.8 chimney the other day, I'm pretty sure you will get totally schooled on the Ghost.

I thoroughly enjoyed it! Though I haven't gotten up the balls to lead it yet. Soon.
