Youth Gone Wild

Post by mr_staggerlee » Fri Oct 01, 2004 10:49 am

a clarification for those of us who are cureous:

Youth Gone Wild (upper Pet wall) is listed in M. Bourdon's guide as 12a.

However, the description states you can boulder in from the right, OR, jump up(reach) to the first bolt.

I've done it both ways, and find that the boulder start at least doubles the difficulty of the climb.

Someone mentioned to me that the boulder start is 12b, and the direct start is 12a.

Anyone know for sure?

taking some free time to ponder irrelevencies.......

I don't think anyone will "know for sure" as you're asking for someone's opinion about a grade. It isn't an exact science.

I think doing the boulder start (the real way) doesn't change the grade. 5.12a all the way.

Maybe Jason is right. I haven't been on it in awhile.
