Squamish in July

I'm currently travelling climbing and looking into heading to Squamish in July, just wondered if anyone has any good info on cheap (hopefully free?) spots to camp. Also how it is for being out there alone and finding partners to climb with. Just spent a little over a month living in Arapiles (Australia) and looking for a similar vibe/set up. Is Squamish the place for this? I'll also not have a car so is it feasible to walk/hitch to most areas?
