Zinc is a common solution to deterring growth of vegetation in damp climates, which is why it's often used in roofs. The cleanliness of the rock the Baldwin Plaque is set in, and below it, shows how well it works, though of course it was placed in 1965. Still, it's been clean for quite a while.

Some climbers who I won't name tried a commercial herbicide on the first pitch or two of Deadend Dihedral (nicknamed "Chemical Nazis") in 1983 or so, without success. Washed off too quickly.

Until we get the traffic out here it's going to be a problem. Some "SQUAMISH" climbers who visited Harrison were pretty impressed and said they were glad to be climbing in our neighborhood where there were no line ups.....
It's only going to get better because there are quite a few more people showing up at the crags as of late. BTW Got 4 more lines that'll be cleaned up just around the corner from your arete.

Shout out to Hopesters, etc...I was out at Hunter Creek FSR, bouldering, last weekend. There are problems as good as any in Squamish (with one V10 that is absolutely world-class), no people, and beautiful flat landings. You guys have some GREAT stuff out there and I'd encourage Vancouverites and FV residents to head east sometimes. Loads of good beta on mpountainproject.com
