Memorial at the base of the Grand Wall

Post by jefffski » Sun Jul 25, 2010 6:11 pm

Today I noticed a few rocks piled at the base of the Grand, with RIP etched into one of the rocks. Does anybody have any information on this memorial?

Thanks.

It was there on Saturday afternoon. Three rocks on top of each other and against the wall, below the Phew!, with a bandanna-headband tied around the upper one, and a name scratched into the rock above. Some climbers who were there suggested that perhaps it had something to do with a climber who recently died.

I believe this is a memorial for Chris Hansen. Chris was a Squamish local, a father and husband. He was tragically killed in a fall June 25, 2010 at Comic Rocks. RIP and Condolences to his family and friends
