Bouldering conditions

Post by andrewbanandrew » Tue Mar 28, 2006 10:55 am

If the weather is good this weekend, will the boulders be dry? How long do they usually stay wet after a good rain? Thanks for the beta.

stuff in the sun(apron boulders) are dry within minutes of the sun coming out.
:D
Was up yesturday and cutting edge was great in the pm sun as well as gibbs cave and some other stuff around in that area. People were on easy like usual and others were working stuff in the forest.

Get out when ever the sun shines and there will be dry rock to climb and if in doubt bring a blow torch

don't use a torch to dry a problem. it melts the crystals, polished the granite and changes the problem. wait for the problem to dry and go climb something else. heads up, cause you'll be getting into confrontations with people who will be pissed at you.

thanks for the heads up. I'm one that likes the wet but I wondered about heating up the rock.

It will make my pad lighter from now on.
