Crumpit Woods development proposal
This story was in the Squamish Chief a couple of weeks ago. I know there are a few climbs in Crumpit Woods, so I was wondering what impact this development would have on the crag. Also Crumpit Woods overlooks Smoke Bluffs Park are there any concerns here?

Three years since receiving approval, developers are re-visiting plans to build a 110-lot subdivision in Valleycliffe.
In 2009, the District of Squamish granted Crumpit Woods, a single-family development slated for property northwest of the intersection of Westway Avenue and Plateau Drive, the go-ahead with a series of amendments to its variance permit.
Since then the housing market tanked, said David Rittberg, a land developer with the Cardinal Group, placing many Sea to Sky Corridor developments on the back burner.
“This project has been on the books for many years. We are dusting it off and relooking and rethinking it,” he said, noting it’s common for companies to continually re-examine projects and proposals.
What has changed is the District of Squamish’s attitude toward developments, Rittberg noted. Since the 2010 Winter Olympic flame went out, the industry has been struggling, but recently the municipality has taken an active role in trying to revive it, Rittberg said.
“We are heartened that the district is starting to take notice of this,” he said.

Re: Crumpit Woods development proposal
The development is above Plateau Drive, and I don't think there are any climbs affected, although I did come across 1 or 2 cool-looking boulders scattered throughout the area. There are however, 3 or 4 very popular MTB trails through the private property, which I don't think have any hope of protection.
It's a huge development, and it will change the character of the neighborhood, remove a significant amount of forested biking and hiking area, and increase traffic considerably on Westway. Does Squamish really need another 110 lot subdivision? There are already a dozen half-built subdivisions in town and another dozen on the table.
