Height dependant

Post by MCpl » Wed Aug 11, 2004 8:54 pm

As requested by Peter.

I have talked to people that say that climbing in Squamish sucks because it is height dependant. The reasoning is that Granite is quite featureless and thus makes it harder for "others" to improvise alternate ways of moving over the rock.

5'9 - 6'0 is the best height for a squamish climber

Hey, I was just joking around-trying to get a rise out of you (pardon the pun).

I totally think it's height dependant.
Ever seen Marty and/or Gary on "passiondale?"
Ever seen Mike on anything? Atleast a number grade easier for him than the rest of us!

I don't know about squamish being height dependant, when i was down in bishop i met some guy who was about 5 foot who said squamish is his favourite place because there is always another way around for the shorter people

Exactly. Height dependant means that if you're of a certain height and under, you won't be able to do the move(s).

Squamish is not height dependant. Pete L's examples are ones of different climbers having to do different sequences for the same route. That's climbing in general.

Of all the climbing in Squamish that I've done, there is only one route I know I won't be able to do because of reach. Club Flex on the Pet Wall.

I think people make too many excuses for their difficulty on Granite.
