don't toprope penny lane with a 60m rope

saw a minor accident yesterday on penny lane. the leader was being lowered to the ground. of course, the rope was not long enough and as he got close to the ground the end of the rope went through the belayers atc. lucky there was rope stretch because he only fell about eight feet and was uninjured.

a few minutes earlier a guy was rapping off the rap station to climber's left of penny lane with a 70m rope. a long length of rope lay on the ground. when i pointed out to his friends that his rope was not centred they told me that he knew what he was doing.

let's be careful out there,please.

What really f*&king bothers me is that the majority of life threatening injuries and deaths in this sport are not from actually climbing a route but from getting off of one. I am seen as a 'dear devil' because I am risking my life climbing a rock. Climbing can be a slow, boring process.

However, the descent can be a harrowing, fast end to a life.

Smarten the f*&k up people and pay attention to what you are doing. We all have to be around each other and what we do affects so many others.
