Squamish July

Post by JonJin » Mon Apr 21, 2008 6:30 am

Hello!

Me and a couple of friends from Sweden is planning a trip to Squamish this summer, (4 weeks in July. The plan is to do as many of the trad classics as possible around the chief area / grand wall, some bouldering and if time is on our side explore some of the other areas further away.
However, I read somewhere on the internet (articles posted 2004 and 2007) about the falcon nesting season from march 15 to end of July and the access problems due to this. Some routes affected by this are mentioned but without a guidebook it is very hard to determine how much this will affect the climbing possibilities during the closure.
So please help me/us shed a little light over this decisive question.

Any links to facts about this and other “god to know” would also much appreciated.

Thanks!

/Jonas

I think the falcon closures are mostly in the Dihedrals. There's plenty of classics elsewhere that will keep you busy.

Here's a link to a falcon closure thread from last summer: http://www.squamishclimbing.com/squamis ... ght=falcon

Same rules will probably apply to 2008
