Missing left hanger from many anchors @ the malamute?

Post by arcteryx36 » Sun Jul 08, 2007 8:33 pm

Curiously today while plunking around @ the upper malamute we came upon 5 or 6 anchors with the left hanger removed.

Always the left one-never the right (facing the rock as you climb the route)...

Does anyone know the reason for this?

At first we just shrugged it off but then became curious after seeing many anchors like this. Close inspection of the bolt didn't reveal any visible damage. All hangers and bolts on the route appeared to be solid-no rust and didn't visibly move when yarded on.
