Brew Pub Slideshow
Last August, I climbed on some of the most inspiring rock spires in the Trango Valley of Pakistan -- situated amongst some of the tallest mountains on the planet such as K2, Broad Peak, and Gasherbrum IV. Two friends and I succeeded in making the first ascent of a 65-pitch rock route on a peak called Trango II. The 5-day climb gave us a real run for our money, and left us with a spiritual glow as we left Pakistan... just weeks before a devastating earthquake hit. The earthquake claimed over 80,000 lives. And this count and the human suffering that went with it would have been much higher were it not for the efforts of organizations such as Doctors Without Borders (MSF). I would like to support the efforts of the real heros that stepped in when it counted most.
So, I am inviting you to a benefit evening of slides, stories, and music at the Brew Pub on Monday, July 3rd at 8:30pm. I will talk about my trip to Pakistan (a similar presentation to the one I gave at the 2006 Vancouver Intl. Mountain Film Festival) and Katy Holm will talk about her recently climbing trip in Cuba. In addition, Ivan Tucakov of Tambura Rasa will be playing live music. Representatives of MSF will be there to talk about their efforts. Cost is $10 at the door with every single penny going to MSF's General Emergency Fund. MSR outdoor equipment company has kindly donated a new Mutha Hubba tent (worth $450) as a door prize.

I was at the bre Pub yesterday for the first time and I saw actor Jeremy Irons walking around with a beard. Looks like he was jsut chilling out. For those who don't know him, he was one of the bad guys in Die Hard, he was also in the Iron Mask and was the voice of Mufasa in the Lion King. Anyways, I thought that was interesting. There's probably quite a few celebs that hangout in Squamish to chillout.
brew pub
got there a bit late - enough to be accauseted by tent seekers with cups asking for change.... most were 3 pints to the tusk, which was almost worth it initself... we snuck in for a bowl of soup each and enjoyed the slide show presentation...
The day was a great day and the evening drive after the pubs show back to the big city sported a shiney calm pathway across the water a an ever orange turning moon - crossing lionsgate bridge the moon was a most impressive sight.
Thank you for posting regarding the show.
