GPS

I just bought a hand held GPS and was thinking of creating waypoints next year of all the trailheads and main climbing walls. Does anyone see any value in this? i know finding some of these areas is fairly hard for anyone but locals... thoughts?

i personally see no reason....thats 300 dollards worth of cams/gear, hey i'm building a solo aid rack, so i'm pinchin every penny..

in order to mark your way points you physicaly have to be there with said GPS, right? and for what reason are you unable to remember where it is or what trails?

now, if you climb waterfall ice i can highly understand.....alpine, sure....but for rock its just something else that'll break....i gone through a digi camera already from the last rock season...

I wouldn't think many people would be in but maybe something to put in a guide book description, email an author of a local guide and get opion there.

I would never take mine to the crags.

so like i said, some of these areas are hard to find IF you're not a local. So the reason behind me doing this would be to beifit other climbers not for myself.
I like the idea of emailing the author tho good one

It depends on whether the people you are trying to help out with providing them with waypoints have GPSs. I personally don't think many people have invested in them.
