A pair of common ravens has built a nest on a rock ledge within the Sunshine Chimney Centre climbing route, which is located on the Campground Wall behind the cooking shelter at the Stawamus Chief campground. Climbers have reported agitated behaviour from the ravens when climbing in this area. To protect the ravens and climbers, BC Parks is closing the Sunshine Chimney Centre as well as the Swedish Touch climbing routes until further notice. The nest will be regularly monitored so that the closure can be lifted when the chicks have left the nest, which should occur by mid-June.
