I'm thinking about heading up to the Chek Thursday and Friday...anyone know if it's dry and/or think it will be by then? And how about Fern Hill? Any info you have would be super helpful!! Thanks :)

Also the new area "the outpost" has 2 splendid multi pitch sport routes, Centurion 6p 10c or Western Harlot 4p 5.9, that dry at an astonishing rate. good views too

Western Harlot was perfectly dry yesterday (Oct. 12) and another party was on Centurion. The hike in was in good shape although a bit muddy in places. Lots of beautiful fungi along the trail.

cheers,
Steve

Thanks!

My partner and I did Sunset Strip yesterday (Sat Oct 19). The route was dry. There were some wet spots but they didn't affect the climbing. We exited through the Eupora chimney scrambling and skipped the last 3 pitches (10a, 10d, 5.9). We climbed at a slow pace (and our first time on this route), started at the base at around 11am and topped out at 6:30pm. While climbing, we saw multiple parties climbing the grand wall.

Climbed Liquid Gold today. A bit cold, but mostly dry. Got to love this October.

Angels Crest was fully dry on Saturday, despite the sun not hitting it at any point during the day.

Went up Banana Peel to Butt Light today. Everything was dry, with maybe 3 footholds total that were damp. Juneuary is awesome, get on it!

anyone feel like commenting on the dryness of sunset strip for tomorrow? Seemed like a reasonable amount of rain on Sunday and this morning...

I'd like to guide a buddy up the Chief before he leaves Vancouver forever (he's never done a proper ground-to-peak route). Anyways, we really only have Saturday as an option to play with. We were aiming for Angel's Crest, but given the rain that we're calling for tomorrow I'm thinking it will still be seepy and unclimbable?
Given the expected rain between now and then, which route is most practical between Angel's Crest, Ultimate Everything or Buttface/Butt Lite?

St Vitus I believe is the quickest drying climb. UE will be wet. I have never done the Butt but it sounds like besides a couple navigable wet spots it may also be a quick drier. But you do want at least most of Friday dry.

Backside routes may offer you a plan B as well, 1000 holds is quite fun and besides maybe the first hold or two it is also a fast drying climb. Combine it with nicks trick for a longer easy day.

Good luck, everything was nice an dry tues/wed.

Thanks for your response J Mace. Out of curiosity, do you mean "wet in a few areas but aidable", "wet in lots of places but aidable" or "wet and sketchy"?

Good conditions at the Longhouse yesterday bar some minor dampness here and there. Such a great escape from the heat with its altitude and aspect.
