Current conditions in Squamish
It struck me as odd there isn't a permanent "conditions" topic on this forum. (Maybe locals don't want to spread the knowledge?)
For out-of-town climbers the webcams are a good resource:
Anyway, from my recent experience, there's lots of dry rock out there:
Bluffs: large number are now totally dry ... you have to look hard to find any serious slime or seepage.
Fernhill: most routes seem climbable if a bit greasy.
Chek: Forgotten Wall area is dry.
Anyone want to add to that list?

Re: Current conditions in Squamish
Great idea. As long as the weather holds, I'll be coming over from Hornby Island on Wed for a few days. I'm planning on a few of the drier apron routes, a few routes in the bluffs, and some scattered dry bits here and there. Will Wiretap be dry? Skywalker?
Re: Current conditions in Squamish
Don't know for sure but open west-facing areas like the Apron and Grand Wall look mostly dry ... and the Wiretrap and Skywalker faces have a similar orientation. Though from memory the first pitch of Skywalker is a drainage channel.thebigchin wrote:Will Wiretap be dry? Skywalker?

Sadly enough this nice stretch of weather is ending.................

Re: Current conditions in Squamish
Should this thread really be sticky to the top of the list? How about a thread titled something like "Links to Squamish weather forcasts" that just has weatheroffice and other forcasting links to help folks plan their trips?

Lots at Murrin dry today.
Re: Current conditions in Squamish
At Chek today. Forgotten Wall is partially dry ... still some bad seepage on some routes. It was much drier one week ago.

Back to Murrin today. Unsurprisingly pretty much everything is dry at Sugarloaf and almost nothing is dry at Zoe.

Hello locals:
It's Sunday morning and I'm thinking about driving up from Van. Is it very wet in squish?
cheers,
Steve

Re: Current conditions in Squamish
Snake on the Apron last night had a couple of damp patches, but no show stoppers.
Anyone know if Rock On will be dry, or is the South Gully no go for a while yet?

Re: Current conditions in Squamish
Krimo Gold all dry today apart from the last pitch which is still do-able.
Re: Current conditions in Squamish
Climbed Bullehead East yesterday - the second pitch was slightly greasy and the fourth pitch (finger crack) was a bit more greasy. All climbable. There were a couple of other parties out and everyone seemed to be enjoying this fine multi-pitch climb and the beautiful weather (we all started early before the sun and heat became a big factor).

Did New Life on the North Walls yesterday, walked along Astro Ledge, saw no significant wetness.
