Re: Christmas Climbing Marathon and Fundraiser 2012
30 laps up the chief between now and dec. 8th.. now that sounds like a challenge
Imaging how much funner this could be with booze and explosives
Re: Christmas Climbing Marathon and Fundraiser 2012
yeah that would be awfully wet...
But seriously:
30 laps up the gym wall equals one "Chief"
90 laps = El Cap

Salute Everybody
This annual super psyched session is coming soon on Dec 1, 8 & 15 at Cliffhanger Coq, Van and the Hive.
Feel free to use the following template to ask your friends/family to sponsor you! $5, $10, ANY amount! What’s your climbing goal? Challenge your limit. Be Squamish Santa yourself and give this amazing gift to someone in need and increase the happiness in the world! : ) Joe 778.999.7104
(Borrowed from Dr. Keith Dawson version)
In the spirit of giving gifts over this most beautiful Christmas season, I am hoping my friends and family can sponsor me at a fundraiser for a very worthy cause.
Habitat for Humanity is a volunteer driven society that strives to help build affordable housing and promote homeownership as a means to breaking the cycle of poverty.
The Vancouver Rock Climbing Group is hosting 3 climbing marathon-fundraisers on Dec 1st, 8th and 15th in order to raise money. My goals this year: 1) climb all the most difficult climbs at the gym and 2) climb vertical 2+km (2 times more than Grouse Grind). These are extremely strenuous and at my physical limits for a duration of 4hr non-stop. I wanted to throw up in the past years.
You can donate ($5, $10, $20, ANY amount) securely online by going to http://www.vrcg.ca/santa This provides a direct link to donate to Habitat for Humanity. Click on “Sponsor Me” to make your donation. There is not a separate donation site for each climber so if you want to let me know you donated, you can do so by email or FB. You can choose to keep your name and donation amount anonymous if you wish. All donations of $20 or more will receive a receipt for income tax purposes. This event is all volunteer-run and all proceeds go to the charity.
Plus you are invited to the Grand Finale Costume Party with live bands and DJs at the Hive Climbing Dec 15 6pm onwards. Dress up as Superheros! More details: http://www.vrcg.ca
Thank you for your support and please share this with your friends.

Re: Christmas Climbing Marathon and Fundraiser 2012
THANK YOU to all superheros, climbers and donors! 3 events, 60 climbers with 147+ donors who supported our annual Christmas Climb-a-thon. We have terminated and smashed our fundraising record and raised $5323. This project (same as many past charity projects at VRCG) won’t be possible without amazing individuals who are ambitious, dream big and put their hands into their words and make real changes! Good job everybody!

Also, I want to say THANK YOU to our sponsors and this project won’t be possible without their generous support!
Hive Climbing Centre generously sponsored admission costs for climbers and also donated them on top of that. Andrew with his amazing HIVE staff team challenged themselves and climb as many problems as they can in 1 hour.
Cliffhanger Climbing Gyms generously sponsored the admission costs for climbers at the Coquitlam and Vancouver locations.
Cliff Bar generously sponsors cliff bars to fuel all the hungry climbers.
Evolv generously sponsored amazing gifts to climbers.
Petzl generously sponsored amazing gifts to climbers.
Merry Christmas and Happy New year everybody!
