After this rain? I'm guessing it'll take 5 dry days. It might be over till ice climbing season...

..Among other places ....
Imaging how much funner this could be with booze and explosives
Re: Skywalker, 5p, 5.8
anyone been up today comment on the current wetness? thinking of heading up tomorrow..
Re: Skywalker, 5p, 5.8
Well according to the web cams it was raining last night...if Jeremy says 5 days...then my guess is its wet.
Re: Skywalker, 5p, 5.8
Is that 5 days after torrential rain or 5 days after the medium-torrential rain we've had over the last few days?
Re: Skywalker, 5p, 5.8
Its a function of wind speed
Re: Skywalker, 5p, 5.8
or a function of your definition (read 'tollerance") of wet!

The first pitch is drying faster ever since someone modified the waterflow atop p1. Whether water will be streaming in between EPB and The Fork is the question. Dunno.
Do know that the base has been all swankified. No more puddle o' mud.

Brought my brother and his girlfriend up Skywalker in the soaking wet + on and off medium showers yesterday so he could propose to her. Went well with one slip on the second pitch. The climb is definitely doable in the rain by a competent leader (not sure what that exactly means but, I managed it ). Just bring enough gear to protect the traverse well.
Also the proposal went off without a hitch, a great view, a rainbow appearing at the perfect moment and champagne brought up in my pack. Also, it was the first time I've seen skywalker with no other climbers on it. Fancy that .

The proposal (he made a ninja to hold the rings)
Champagne at the base (was chilly en route)
Re: Skywalker, 5p, 5.8
I FINALLY was able to get on Skywalker yesterday. It's a GREAT climb! We were lucky to be the only ones on it. It wasn't until we were starting the last pitch that a party of 2 were starting up the first pitch. By the time we hiked down there was yet another party starting up.
I find all its variations in climbing (slab, exposed crack, tight corner crack, traverses, etc.) make it fun and interesting. My climbing partner chose the odd pitches, so luckily for me, I got to do that awesome second pitch. It's my favourite part of the climb!
Thanks for this awesome climb, Jeremy!
It's a real shame that we are losing you to the flatland of Manitoba.
Take care!
