Where are they having the downhill? It's not gonna be on the actual sea-to-sky, is it?

Re: FREE FOOD AND BEER (volunteers needed for longboard race
Long Boarding is SOOO irresponsible
Imaging how much funner this could be with booze and explosives
Re: FREE FOOD AND BEER (volunteers needed for longboard race
i hope thats sarcasm^^: longboarding is pretty safe: your in full leathers, a full face helmet and have slide pucks on your gloves, at 100km/h i can stop faster and in a shorter distance than a car!(<<<This has actually been proven) Not to mention the road is closed off for this race and hay bales are set up for crash padding. Ultimately it comes down to the individual rider, as a whole longboarders are generally safer and more respectful than street skaters ( just look at the comparison in how many longboarders you see wearing a helmet vs street skaters) The majority of accidients (including fatalities) are NOT caused by "wrong place wrong time," they are caused by negligence and individuals passing there limits and not "touching them." Longboarders are risk assessors NOT risk takers. One could argue that longboarding is as "reckless" as climbing or even skiing or mountain biking. Its all about risk management and being aware of your surroundings, do what you love but do it safely and heavens for bid WEAR A HELMET.
This post is NOT to start an argument on the safety and ethics of longboarding (if you wanna argue go somewhere else): it is to describe and explain the safety factors that go into longboarding that most people are unaware of.
Come out see for yourselves! (admission is free!)
Come out and support your local community!
