Walter Bonatti makes final ascent Climbing world in mourning

A truly great climber past away this week. Tributes from around the world are coming in.

Here is one the many obits on the climbing legend.
The pioneering climber has died at the age of 81. He began his achievements in the Alps (Petit Dru, Freney and Grandes Jorasses) before moving on to Patagonia and Asia. He spent most of his life caught up in the controversy surrounding the famous K2 ascent, and was only recently cleared of the accusations. Messner: "A clean man vilified for 50 years.
