Anyone been up to Chek lately? Is the road clear?

There was some sort of van/RV thing that has been partially blocking the road that you can see from the highway the last couple of times I have drove by. Not sure what is with it?

It's in bad shape, we (casbc) have been bugging motsa and forests about it and as of yet they aren't willing to put any money into it. It is however, on their radar..........

I was up there today, no snow anywhere really.

A few pics of the road...

...rough shape, any idea of the cost to fix it?
I was at the volunteer day to fix that section last summer, but our efforts only lasted a couple of weeks. There was talk of paving the steeper sections someday, but nobody was sure exactly the cost, somebody estimated $40K.
It would be a great long term improvement.

I would love to be able to roll my eyes right along with you dirty. But the Squamish trad climbing community will forever be stained by the $10,000 laid down for the cleaning for Crap Crags. On a dollar to pitch ratio $40,000 for a paved road would be a hell of a deal!
WTF?

That road doesn't need to be paved, a couple of French drains and other drainage control structures installed when it is rebuilt will do the job.

and people in their 2 wheel drive vehicles parking at the bottom and walking up using their feet instead of using the skinny pedal.
When in doubt....run it out!!!!

I cant believe you guys are bugging forestry about making a forestry road nice for cars so you dont have to walk for 10 minutes.

Those pics make it look pretty tame for a fsr

Nope, dont go there on weekends.

If it is notorius for break-ins then people should prepare for that before going there i.e. nothing left in the vehicle.
When in doubt....run it out!!!!

What's that got to do with the price of rice in China? Are you suggesting that the money spent by the UBC Varsity outdoors club was money well spent?
