Lighthouse - Cauliflower wall (aka: arbutus alley)

Post by rockandsnowjunkie » Mon Jun 01, 2009 12:14 pm

I've been trying to fond out what's happened with the access society's negotiations with WV district and the Lighthouse park groupies. Despite various letters sent by myself and numerous others regarding the pre-existing bolts on the top of the climb, nothing seems to have happened (wrong?). Whoever re-drilled bolts seems to have done a disservice as it merely solidified the district position of climbers being insensitive to 1) bureaucracy and 2) the 'urban' nature they call lighthouse park (don't get me wrong I love Lighthouse as a urban park/ rec area, but it's far from a pristine wilderness). Anyhow, as many of you know, those bolts have been there at least 10 years (when i first stated climbing there) and many attest longer.

Any word? I stopped by there a few months ago and given the moss and lack of hangers nothing seems rectified.

Can't we all just get along?

Cheers.

We have talked to WV Parks about it, we still plan to set up a joint walk through with them. Look for updates on www.access-society.ca. I would also suggest contacting us through our website.
