This is the last weekend for the old Skaha parking lot:

From http://www.skaha.org/

Braesyde Farm parking lot closing this weekend
October 29, 2008

The Braesyde Farm parking lot will close at the end of Sunday, Nov 2. This will mark the end of 16 years of parking at Braesyde. As climbers, we are indebted to Hugh Dunlop, the past owner of the parking lot, for providing parking and the only legal access to Skaha Bluffs over the years.

Hugh Dunlop is inviting everyone to a weenie roast at the parking lot after climbing Sunday.

It is still virtually certain that we will be parking on Sublot 18 next spring. When it's completely certain, that news will be posted here, at Skaha.org.

Have a great winter, training for next Spring! See you then.

Skaha camping thread:

http://www.squamishclimbing.com/squamis ... ha+camping

I've camped up Carmi road and at Waterworld years ago (which sucked).

Also camped in the hills south of Skaha lake at the end of a cul-de-sac in a development that had roads put in but no houses built. Forget the name of it but it was within 2km of the SE end of the lake. Stayed low profile up there but had a small fire and didn't get harassed by anyone. Houses and people could now be in there though.

At this time of year the provincial parks are "closed" (gated, no services) but it is still permissable to camp in them. There's a great Provincial Park campground in OK Falls where you can stay for free right now if you don't mind parking at the locked gate and carrying your camping stuff 10m to the nearest campsite.

I went to Chek on Saturday.... we were the ONLY ones there.... the Circus wall was DRY (mostly....), fun times, did 5 pitches!... last time there this year for sure! (especially since i'm writing this sitting in the airport, waiting to board my plane, about to fly to Thailand!).

If you're looking for dry rock... there is a place on Vancouver Island......

or Smith Rocks (8 hours drive) has only 40% chance of Rain for the next week. the rock dries there FAST (like.... INSTANTLY!). you can climb there even if it rains every day!

good luck.
