Smoke Bluffs got a haircut

Post by squamish climber » Tue Feb 25, 2014 1:27 pm

Was driving through Squamish on the weekend and noticed you can see a lot more rock in the Bluffs. Look at Alexis and Burgers and Fries. This is going to help spread the crowds out and dry the rock faster. I heard that BC Hydro carried out this work as part of their right of way management under the powerlines.

That explains why I've been looking at Alexis this last week and thinking "huh...why have I never noticed those cracks before?" They look cool, I want to go climb them now.

Good news, I'm all for more light/wind and fewer trees in the bluffs, but they'll be back.

They are doing all that work for some reason, and I'm not sure it is for our benefit. Housing?

I'm pretty sure it's all BCHydro, they've done some work around the Chief/Apron Boulders too, and other right of ways throughout Squamish.
