anyone fallen off diedre?

Post by supafly » Wed Sep 12, 2012 11:54 am

Just wondering.. does anyone know anyone, or has anyone themselves taken a whip off diedre, apart from maybe the very top move which tends to be slimy.

It must see thousands of ascents a season, someone must have a good story :)

The best "story" ever about Diedre is the one Uncle Tricky wrote on CC. I think I have posted it here before.

About 1964 or 1965, I was leading the last pitch of Diedre. I was climbing the slabs maybe 20 right of the corner ( this might now be on White Lightning - I don't know, but theres no pro on those slabs). I got most of the way up, was heading left for the top of the Diedre corner, and it started to rain. Pour. Downpour. I took a long, slithering fall, winding up in the bushy corner well to the right of Deidre (Sickle?). Barry joined me there, and we bailed.

That was hands down the best trip report ever published!
Imaging how much funner this could be with booze and explosives

I remember looking at this the first time it was posted
And even with knowing the poetic license and hyperbole
It is just as funny the second time
A definite must read...
