You should be able to drive up the road to the top of the clearcut they did last year on the Shannon Creek Rd. This is about 2km past the turn off from the Stawamus Indian FSR. (Which in turn is 1.5 km past the turnoff from the Mamquam FSR). You will still have a couple of hours of biking and walking the decommissioned roads to get to the trailhead. The biking will only save a bit of time on the way up, but you might shave an hour or more off the decent. Valuable time when the days are so short.

Good luck and have fun!

Kris.

The road should be in good shape at least part of the way up as there is currently active heli- logging occurring in the area. I have been watching it daily from my balcony in Valleycliffe. You may want to travel very carefully on that road or avoid the area unless you have a radio unless you want to be road pancake with all the loaded logging trucks, lowbeds, and logs flying about in the area.

Its not quite that dramatic, there is a phone number at the gate, call them and you will be escorted through.

2wd gets you through, 4wd gets you to the boulders
