I didn't think the approach was even 10 minutes - and I'm a slow walker.

I peeled a torso sized block off of The Apprentice today. The blocks above that one may or may not be safe. Be careful!

Oh yeah, is Stolen Timber open? It's on the topo but it's still flagged, has closed written in chalk and has the rope still hanging from it.

RE: Stolen Timber

a key hold broke. maintenance ongoing by the routesetter. there are some subtle signs left there that the climb is not yet open.

Rock!

i'd sugest a helmet for the two new walls this summer. what we pulled off The Apprentice was pretty bad. Most routes are spitting small rocks but we've knocked a few big chunks off....

I'm a little surprised that something came off the Apprentice, could you say where? We can't account for every hold, so obviously be wary with new walls. As well, no excuse, but apparently people are venturing off some of the routes and even scrubbing new holds two make the routes easier. Now this has been discussed before, and I'd be happy to debate it again, but stay on line  , if there is a big unscrubbed ledge 5 feet away from the bolt line, then perhaps it should be avoided. Now I am not suggesting this is the case for the reported rock fall, but figured it may be an opportune time to mention it.

It was about 1/2 way up the route near the top of the dihedral where the smaller keystones were holding the larger and larger blocks. It's on route although later we could still climb the route while avoiding the blocks.

i can't get up to the upper parking lot at chek, but no trouble at cat lake

i don't see the 4-5 car parking spots though, not without partially blocking the road.

There's nothing on Holoduke, in fact if anyone wants the lines, have at em. The topo is still current, apparently some of the routes are a bit sandbagged, not sure which ones though. Also, I haven't been up this year but I heard some equipment were digging in the talus around the parking area, perhaps for some rock to fix a culvert further up the road, so the trailhead may be difficult to find..............if it is just scramble up the talus and you'll find the trail.
