Kickin rocks at sullys

Post by Azimuth » Sun Apr 15, 2012 8:12 pm

Just wondering what the rules are for knocking down rocks on routes, I came across one today at sullys that's not a super big danger Right now but if it gets stepped on its going to come down, wanted to take it out today but I started thinking mabe I should ask the group first before I start kicking rocks

If it's dangerous, and you feel that you can protect yourself and anyone nearby while setting it free, then by all means deal with it. You'd feel pretty shitty if someone got hurt or killed by something you had noticed, but didn't take care of, or at least make known to the public with a sign.

There's new loose stuff every spring. Just be careful with your trundling!

Regardless of who’s "route" it is, if the rock is a danger to others you have an obligation to remove it. Climbs change all the time and there are always rocks and such becoming loose over time. Some that the FA’ist either missed or didn’t think were a problem at the time.
