So. Chilcotin wilderness ADVENTURE!
The Southern Chilcotin mountains (spruce lake protected area, 150km north of whistler) are a fantastic, remote, wild and beautiful place ... seldom visited and little explored. Almost the entire area is high alpine environment with sweeping vistas in all directions .. very different from the typical Coast Mountain rain forest. This is perhaps the most spectacular accessible wilderness in BC!
September is the best time to visit the Chilcotin because the bugs are gone and so is the snow.
I'm looking for 2-3 adventurers to accompany me on 3 night backpacking trip to the Chilcotin starting Saturday, Sept. 12th. The route I've planned leads off-trail through high alpine meadows, over 3000 meter peaks, past tremendous waterfalls, and covers approximately 80k. I won't be bringing any rope for this, but I plan on tackling some 5.6 and maybe 5.7 easy alpine routes. No glacier crossings, and nothing too sketchy. There are lots of possibilities for ascents in this area, so we can play it by ear.
Because the Chilcotin range is high alpine and sparsely treed, expect panoramic views the entire trip.
Contact me ASAP if you'd like to do this backpacking trip!
Recommended gear:
lightweight backpack
tarp or tent
sleeping bag (rated to 0c)
propane camp stove
food
