and someone from here (MB) will be in JTree around the same time!

maybe he can meet up w/ you!? don't worry, he'll pm you if it's possible ;)

enjoy your trip!!

Trad, i was only kidding about the 'fine'!! i meant that you have to pay a toll to cross it.

MB is a climber on here who will be in JTree the same time as you.
what i was saying was that he will read this post, and pm you if he is able to meet up w/ you. no pm = no rendezvous.

nonetheless, i'm sure you will find plenty of people to climb w/ down there! it just sucks about the lonely ride... gets tiring when there's nobody to talk to.
that being said, have you though about listening to audio books?? may help w/ passing time while having your mind focus on something. music can be tiring due to the lack of focus - especially when you are very familiar w/ the beats you're listening to.

i'll be listening to the book Point of Impact (marky mark's SHOOTER) while on the way to Smith in a few days... should help pass 3 hrs of mundane freeway.

hi,

we'll be heading down that way around the same dates. our plan is to hit up j-tree, bishop and yosemite.

i'm after a few tips for on the way down there, that is if you've done this before.

how long should we plan for getting to the yosemite area? is 2 or 3 days better? can you pull over and sleep in your car on the way down to save on accommodation costs?

is it better to take the highway through portland?

any hints or tips appreciated :)

I'm writing on MB's behalf. We are two guys driving down from Vancouver,BC to Joshua Tree by way of Bishops (one day) and Red Rocks (one or two days). Our dates are Dec. 7-23, plus or minus one day in each direction. Looking for one more on the way down and definitely one or even two on the way back to help with driving. Climbers welcome, but we'll be happy sharing the drive with any friendly people.
