I'm planning a two week road trip for next month. I plan to stop at Smith for a while. What other destinations should I include? I'm looking for sport climbing destinations. I might be willing to drive as far as northern California. Oh ya, I'll have the wife and two kids (7 & 4) with me, if that makes a difference.
That sounds good to me. I'll send the wife and kids with you to the Rockies while I go to Smith. When are you going again? 
I agree it is a bit hot in Aug. That's the problem once you have kids, you need to do these things in Jul/Aug. I'm anxious to go back to Smith. I haven't been there for 8 years (hard to believe). I've never climbed in the Rockies. Is there a name for the area(s) you climb? What is the climbing like? Is it kid friendly? How long is the drive?
