Post by bike » Tue Jan 11, 2005 10:31 am

I am in the market to purchase a water filter system. Does anyone have any advice or ideas as to the best one to buy? :?:

I have an old mini works that works great but I just bring Pristine everywhere now and haven't got the beave using it. But for silty water you still need some sort of filter

I bought last year the MSR you can put on your NAlgene Bottle, I can't remember what I paid for but at that time it was the one most recommended by Coast Mountain Sport. I used it lots last summer and I think I got lots for my buck.

Katadyn all the way bro. The most important thing to know about a water filter is if they are "absolute" This means that every filter pore is the size they claim. That which is not absolute have filter pore sizes that are larger than the size stated by the manufacturer.

After the research I did end up buying the katadyn. It seems to be the best all around. Made of aluminum it is very durable.

Thanks for all the info.
