Camping along the upper Squamish?

Post by Tricouni » Mon Aug 13, 2012 10:20 pm

I'm looking for a spot to car-camp for a night in the upper Squamish area, certainly upriver of the Cheakamus junction. I've found such places before, but I haven't been up there for a few years. All that's needed is flat, dry land. Nothing fancy. No tables, outhouses needed. We're basically just crashing for the night.. Anything by the Ashlu turnoff? I don't want to fool around for an hour or so trying to find a spot; it'll be a long enough drive as it is.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Ashlu turnoff now has a pay campground. My fav is just past the High Falls creek and trail. There are two small roads going off to the left (west) with nice spots along a side channel of the Squamish R. Be forewarned, they are popular spots, and I would avoid them on weekends due to the party crowd. There is often alot of party debris, but I've seen it really clean too.

Pay campground at Ashlu? Gross. Who is running it, forestry?

Didn't know about the spots near High Falls turnoff. Thanks.
