I love Owens. Best 10's and 11's I've ever climbed with some really good 12's as well.
Haven't been there for years and never later than October but it should be good year round if you chase the sun.
There's also all the bouldering down there.
Easy drive. Leave here early, Reno by dinner time, gamble all your savings and turn around and come home.

Why not Vegas?

Any of those big-a$% hotels will fly you down cheap on a package (their main aim is to get people there cheap so they can gamble).

Plenty of sunny crags to find.

Bishop is usually a zoo around christmas, at least at the pit. so, if you are hoping for free camping then i wish you luck finding a spot there. otherwise, there is pay camping that shouldn't be entirely full and then there is always an abundance of motels in town. Its the best bet for good weather, but bring lots of layers for the nights as it gets down to -15 most nights in december.
And how is education supposed to make me feel smarter? Besides, every time I learn something new, it pushes some old stuff out of my brain. Remember when I took that home winemaking course, and I forgot how to drive? --Homer Simpson
