Chronic injuries in sport climbers/boulderers

Post by afolkl » Wed Mar 23, 2011 11:34 am

Hi everyone,

I’m a long-time Ontario climber and currently a medical student at the University of Vermont. I’m working on a project that examines the causes and consequences of chronic injuries in sport climbers and boulderers. While there is good data in the medical literature about acute injuries in climbers, there is very little out there on chronic injuries.

If you’re 18 or older, have spent at least half of your time sport climbing or bouldering, have an injury that’s at least a year old, and have five minutes, I’d really appreciate it if you could take my survey, accessible here (I realize the Squamish community is probably tipped towards trad more than sport, but I thought I'd try here, anyway; the more responses, the better the conclusions I can draw from the data):

It’s only ~15 questions long, and I’m hoping it’ll add something useful to the currently small body of climbing literature.

I’m also happy to answer any questions at rockclimbingsurvey@gmail.com.

Thanks so much, and sorry for the spam,

Alex
