Burgers & Fries - Catch Me Quicker....?

Post by imnotnate » Mon Jun 14, 2010 7:30 pm

Hey All,

Does anyone know if the thick McLane book has the right info on routes around "catch me quicker" at burgers & fries?

I was up there today, climbed what I thought to be Catch Me Quicker and Over Forty, but found Catch Me Quicker (way) harder than 10c and Over Forty super soft for 11a.

Rockclimbing.com's description of Catch Me Quicker says it shares a first bolt with Movin on Over, but not so in McLane... in there it's clearly a couple of metres left, up the runout bolt line (3 bolts i think).

Anyone know what the story is? Maybe there's even a new climb in there now...

The Squamish Select has it as 10b "paddle your way up the thin, polished finger crack to a short technical crux, the upper crack is easier"

Catch Me 10a to the left of quicker "face climb past 2 bolts"

maybe it's not in squamish select at all then... it's a bit confusing there's actually 3 similarly named climbs right next to one another in mclane, from left to right:

-catch me, 10a face
-catch me quick, 10b crack (the one you just mentioned in the select)
-catch me quicker, 10c face (the one i'm wondering about)
-over forty, 11a disconnected pockets

Maclane's and squamish Select have climbs named, rated and/or positioned differently.

From left to right

Maclane
Catch me 10b-pic/10a-text
Catch me quick 10b
Catch me quicker 10c
Over 40 11a
Movin' on over 9

SS
Catch me 10a
Catch me quicker 10b
Over 40 11a
Catch you 10c
Move it on over 9

The 10c is the one that goes up the diagonal seam, up and left from the start of Movin On Over, past 3 bolts.

The 11a (Father and Son) goes straight up past a couple bolts, just left of the 10c.
