Too much patriotism lately...is there any surface on which Canadians won't paint/tattoo/display a Canadian flag? It would have been more creative if someone would have hauled up a huge Pepsi banner

Could the flag have been left behind by the same crew that flew a banner on the Grand for Squamish's Maëlle Ricker? The banner was to pay tribute for Maëlle's gold in Snowboard Cross. Way to go Maëlle!

Here's a still from the video

And here's the link to the video

Can Dan and Tony the climbers who flew the banner comment when they see this post?[/img]

This is a sad trend that must stop in my opinion. Squamish is getting uglier by the day, we don't need to drag the Chief into it as well.

Solo aid climber on Uncle Ben's last weekend. Chatted with him on Merci Me when I did the Grand on Saturday.... European fellow, good climber it seemed like.

Patriotic? Depends on how you look at it.

It's a little hard to tell from the photo, but either:

a) it is painted on there, which in my opinion makes it nothing much more than the latest incident of Squamish rock graffiti, or

b) it is a flag somehow attached to the wall, which unless it is removed in a timely manner makes it nothing much more than the latest piece of trash which is going to end up at the base of the Grand Wall

agreed that whoever did put it up there should take responsibility for bringing it down.

Yo Bradley, since you like nationalistic crap so much, I'm sure you don't mind me hanging up a Belgian flag on the Chief because the at least 5 Belgian athletes competed in Vancouver 2010 (loosing miserably in each of their disciplines but that's beside the point)
