A traffic checkpoint will be in place during peak travel times (6 am – 6 pm, February 11 – 28, 2010) and permits will be required to travel north of Squamish and pass through the checkpoint.

There's usually very little climbable rock north of Alice Lake between Feb 10 and 28 anyhow.

Ice is another story. I expect a renaissance of Fraser Canyon ice climbing in Feb.

oh but the skiing! For one thing, Whistler is expected to have far below average skier-days during the Olympics - so if you're willing to fight the mess at the bottom, you should enjoy more primo skiing up top.

and I guess I'll just have to leave for the Duffy the night before, after 6pm, for touring - it'll get ya a few more laps anyway being there uber-early
