Untapped Rock???

Post by numa_cruiser » Fri Aug 17, 2007 11:40 am

A question to those crusty old guys out there who've got a brain-full of climbing history and local knowledge: Is there or has there ever been any routes put up on the large chunk of rock between the Bulletheads and Shannon Falls that the trail traverses under? Does that piece of rock have a name?

I'm sure someone has ventured in there at some point but I've foud no reference to it at all. Seems as though it must be perpetually wet or crumbly to be so close and yet have no routes. Any insight would be greatly appreciated. I'm going to have a look this afternoon.

Thanks guys, I have the older McLane guide which doesn't mention it. I'll check out the newer one.

It used to be a real b%$ch to get to the top of, if you were interested in exploring top-down, and the bottom was pretty bushy, which discouraged ground-up exploration. Now that there is a trail in to the Overlook or whatever it is called, reaching the top is much simpler, which should help to spur development.
