Smash, Crash, Boom! ROCK SLIDE off the Chief

Minutes ago (10:09 pm) I just heard a series of thunderous crashs through the pouring rain from a rockfall eminating from probably the north walls. It lasted for about 7-8 seconds. My house is in valleycliffe. I'll scan the walls tomorrow with my binoculars for scars...

...the acrophobes may now be a V2 bum dragger! :shock:

I'm curious as well. I'm hoping that enough rock has dropped to create an 1800 foot overhanging wall that'll allow me to do terminal BASE jumps... :D

Oh well, wishful thinking... :wink:

Meanwhile I'll stick to the two seconds we get off Teddy Bear's picnic.

Well, our kitchen looks right at the north walls and it looks the same to me

Yup looks as beautiful as always from my kitchen window and no new obvious scars -as big as the sheriff's badge anyway.

However, apparently there has been no shortage of debris falling lately. The following day from my first post, friends on a dog walk witnessed several large boulders fall from the north rim and collide with astro ledge in the surf's up area while other chunks carried on to the bottom. The echo's carried thru the valley.

Went bouldering yesturday in the Cleans, rock was pretty good little bits of seep but most of the circuit was climbable.
That's just to rub it in.

But on this topic all the good dam noise was probably the north and south gulleys empty their bowls down onto the road below. You should drive up just to check out all kinds of fresh white rock up through the forest and piled up on the side of the road now.

Looks like the angels crest approach might need a little refurbishment this spring.?
