SAS Notice: Nightmare Rock Blasting Update
SAS Notice: Nightmare Rock Blasting Update
Further to the temporary closures at Nightmare Rock, we have been informed that the last blasting before the long weekend is scheduled for Thursday the 3rd and should be completed by noon. We have requested the current signs, which have stale information, be updated by this afternoon (Wednesday the 2nd) to indicate the necessary information for climbers.
Unfortunately, the blast in question concerns a boulder with an actual problem on it; it is right next to the highway. We have requested a meeting to discuss ongoing concerns around access and the potential threat to climbing resources.
Our information so far indicates we should not have to worry about the climbs on the east side of the road (other than increased proximity of the road surface) or any further boulder problems on the west side or the Nightmare Rock climbs.
