Gorge (Cheakamus Canyon) Closure - Thursday July 27th

The Access Society received the following message from the Ministry of Transportation and Highways. It seemed likely to be of interest. We have no more information at present than that which is posted.

"Notice to Recreation Resource Users in the Sea-to-Sky Corridor:

The pullout and parking area near the Gorge climbs above the Cheakamus River will be closed from 6:00 am to 5:00 pm on July 27, 2006 (tomorrow). This is a one-day event and the closure is intended to ensure that people don't park and inadvertently wander into the blast area.

We regret any inconvenience caused by short notice of this closure, but peoples' safety is the primary concern.
