Post by tattooed_climber » Wed Aug 02, 2006 9:07 pm

heyhey, i love the mag, but they smoke WAAAAY too much herb in the subscription department

over 2 years ago, i two 4-5 of letter writing, emails, complaints to the corp. offices for any delivery of a mag

its been 2 months since i sent my first re-newal subscription.....refilled the forms out like 3 times, fired off afew emails....hell, i missed an issue....

am i the only one, cus i'm sure i've heard this same story from others....

I had the opposite problem, I never bothered to renew and kept getting issues for a year +. Alpinist has missed an issue with me though, that hurts, and Its always late.

ditto, "something" happened to my issue 15 of Alpinist and it never got to me... thankfully, i asked them to send a replacement and they got me a new copy pronto.... but yeah, sucks when the issues are late since the mag comes out so infrequently...

I cancelled my Alpinist subscription 'cause the mags kept showing up 2-3 weeks late. I'd rather just buy them in the store, pay a few bucks extra, and get them earlier

It was 15 that went missing on me as well, and I agree with just grabbing them in the store, but Im out in the middle of no where (powell river -oh god so much rock ahahaaha) and dont want to risk missing out.

i had no end of trouble with my subscription... they were nice on the phone, made it good (didn't lose any mags), but the effort involved in getting an address change was almost funny. actually, i'm still getting magazines, and its more than a year and i thought i had a 1 year subscription.

alpinist, like any other magazine relies on subscriptions to keep publishing. it would be a crying shame if the first half-decent publication for the nort-american climbing community were to fold because they can't get their subscription department in order. thankfully they do try to amend their mistakes quickly. gripped on the other hand, after a decent start, has fallen into the same soft porn category as rock and ice and climbing, printing the self-promoting spew of sposored climbers and stock photos.
support alpinist! it actually make us think about why we do these crazy things, it supports and promotes the diversity of our large quirky community instead of stuffing us into an anorexic prana mold.
was that my helicopter voice?!
